Summary
SpeedDock is a macOS utility that helps you create one or more custom docks to quickly launch apps and open items such as bookmarks, folders, and external drives. SpeedDock is designed to work primarily on-device so it does not transmit your dock contents or file paths to the developer.
Data We Collect
By default, SpeedDock does not collect or transmit personal data.
SpeedDock stores your dock configuration locally on your Mac (for example: the list of items you add to docks, ordering, and display settings). This information stays on your device and is used only to provide the app’s functionality.
Data You Provide (Optional)
- Support communications: If you email support, we will receive the information you include in your message (such as your email address, logs, and screenshots). You can choose what to share.
- Crash reports / diagnostic logs (if you choose to send them): If you manually share logs with support, those logs may include device and system details (for example: macOS version, hardware model) that help diagnose issues.
Automatically Collected Data
SpeedDock does not include advertising, does not use third‑party trackers, and does not attempt to access data from other apps.
Apple analytics and crash reporting: If you choose to share device analytics with Apple (and, where available, share analytics with app developers), Apple may provide the developer with aggregated performance/usage information and crash reports for SpeedDock. These reports help improve stability and performance. The developer does not receive your personal files, dock contents, or passwords through these reports. Apple controls the collection and sharing of this information, and you can change these settings in macOS system settings.
Network Connections and Third Parties
SpeedDock may connect to Apple services required to distribute and update the app (e.g., the Mac App Store), and to Apple services that provide optional aggregated analytics and crash reports as described above. SpeedDock does not sell your data.
If SpeedDock adds an optional third‑party service in the future (for example: crash reporting or analytics), we will (1) document the service in this policy, (2) update App Store “App Privacy” disclosures, and (3) provide an in-app toggle when feasible.
AI Features (Optional)
SpeedDock may offer optional AI-powered features to help improve the product (for example: generating suggested dock names, grouping recommendations, or summarizing settings). AI features are optional and can be disabled if offered.
- On-device AI: If an AI feature runs on-device (using Apple-provided frameworks), your data remains on your Mac.
- Third‑party / cloud AI (opt-in only): If an AI feature requires sending data to a third‑party AI provider, SpeedDock will ask for your explicit permission before sending any data and will clearly disclose what is sent and why. You can decline and continue using SpeedDock without AI features.
- Data minimization: When AI is used, SpeedDock is designed to send the minimum data needed. We do not send passwords, payment info, or the contents of secure fields.
Permissions and Why They’re Needed
Some SpeedDock features may require macOS permissions. You will be prompted by macOS when a permission is needed, and you can grant or deny it. Common permissions for dock/launcher utilities include:
- Accessibility: Enables keyboard-driven workflows and interaction assistance (e.g., global hotkeys or focusing UI elements) if the feature is enabled.
- Automation (Apple Events): Allows launching or controlling specific apps if you choose automation-related features.
- Files & Folders access: Required only to access folders/drives you explicitly add to a dock or to allow SpeedDock to open those items.
- Screen Recording: Not required for core functionality. If ever used for an optional feature, SpeedDock will explain why and request permission.
- Full Disk Access: Not required for core functionality. If ever used for an optional feature, SpeedDock will explain why and request permission.
Data Retention
- On-device settings: Stored on your Mac until you delete the app and its related files.
- Support emails: Retained as long as needed to respond and maintain a support history, then deleted or anonymized when no longer necessary.
- AI requests (if used): If a third‑party AI provider is used, retention depends on that provider’s policy; SpeedDock will disclose this at the time you opt in and will provide a way to avoid sending data by turning the feature off.
Your Choices
- You can uninstall SpeedDock at any time to remove locally stored settings.
- If optional analytics, crash reporting, or AI features are offered, you can disable them in-app (where available) or by not granting related permissions.
- You can request deletion of support communications you have sent by contacting support.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect any information you choose to share with support. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we strive to limit data collection and reduce exposure.
Support, Maintenance, and Vulnerability Reporting
For support or to report a security vulnerability, contact: support [at] scriptigo [dot] com. If you report a potential vulnerability, include steps to reproduce and your macOS version. We will acknowledge reports and work to address issues as appropriate.
Children
SpeedDock is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information via a support request, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above will reflect the latest version. Material changes will be posted on this page and, when feasible, noted within the app.

Security & Permissions Disclosure
Security
- On-device by design: Your dock configurations and the items you add to docks are stored locally on your Mac.
- Least-privilege approach: SpeedDock requests permissions only when a feature requires it.
- Encryption: Any communication with Apple services occurs over encrypted connections.
- No data sale: We do not sell personal data.
- Incident response: If we become aware of a security issue affecting user data, we will work to address it and publish an update as appropriate.
Permissions
SpeedDock’s core purpose is to provide quick access to items you explicitly choose. The app may request the following macOS permissions depending on which features you enable:
- Files & Folders: Needed to open folders or drives you add to a dock. Access is limited to the items you select.
- Accessibility: Used only for optional interaction features such as keyboard-driven workflows or global shortcuts (if enabled).
- Automation (Apple Events): Used only if you enable automation-related features for launching/controlling apps that require Apple Events.
- Screen Recording: Not required for core functionality and not requested unless a future optional feature clearly requires it.
- Full Disk Access: Not required for core functionality and not requested unless a future optional feature clearly requires it.
Outbound communications
- Mac App Store: Used for distribution, licensing/receipt validation, and updates.
- Apple analytics/crash reporting: If enabled in macOS settings, Apple may share aggregated analytics and crash reports with the developer.
- No third‑party telemetry by default: SpeedDock does not include third‑party analytics SDKs, ad networks, or trackers.
Changes
If we add new permissions, telemetry, third‑party services, or AI data flows, we will update this privacy policy and App Store disclosures accordingly before or alongside the release.
